Seed Storage and Sale – How Sunflower Seeds Are Preserved in Grain Silos

There are many types of Sunflower seeds, which could be stored and preserved for a long time in Sunflower storage silos. Some of the silos have a capacity to store 500 T of seed that could potentially provide years of storage before the need to harvest them again. Seed silos can be built high and positioned on foundations or can be stand-alone. The most important feature is the amount of storage that can be provided within it, which depends on the capacity of the seed. Another important feature is the durability of the silo as it would be opened and closed regularly to maintain the levels of humidity in the silo.

Seed silos can be used to store seeds for the vegetable and flower garden or the annual crop such as corn, beans, squash, and other seed-bearing crops. During storage, it is important to ensure that the seed-bearing dry and well protected from direct exposure to weather. This would help in preventing the sprouting of seeds prematurely. Also, the seeds should be stored in an airtight container to ensure the quality and safety of the stored seeds.

Sunflower seeds are mostly used for seed heating and to make wine, although some people use them for other purposes. The seeds are dried to make jams and jellies for the lovers of this legume. The drying of the Sunflower seeds removes the husks and the seeds from their nutritional value and keeps them for a longer duration of time. This is the reason why some people prefer to store Sunflower seeds in storage silos for a longer period of time for future usage. Seed silos have a fixed shelf life of about five years, after which they need to be replaced with new ones.
